MRI

Our hospital offers MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) as an advanced form of diagnostic imaging. This is a non-invasive procedure that relies on a very powerful magnetic field to create a specific image using a computer to process the information. Diagnoses with MRI are based on the fact that abnormal tissue displaces normal tissue and results in enhanced areas that can be visualized. MRI is extremely sensitive at showing areas of hemorrhage and other soft tissue problems.

General anesthesia is required for MRI as movement can impair the results. MRI scans are often indicated in pets with seizures, behavior changes, trouble walking or many other conditions. Ask your veterinarian if MRI is right for your pet.
