Barry Nicholls, Staff Veterinarian

Dr. Barry Nicholls bought Staples Veterinary Hospital (Staples Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1901 and was the first veterinary practice in Calhoun County) in June of 1982. Dr. Nicholls changed the name to Quintard Veterinary Hospital and later, to Animal Medical Center.

As a youngster, he and his two sisters had many pets and he also took in orphaned wild animals. He enjoyed the challenges of diagnosing and treating animals. Dr. Nicholls attended Auburn University and now works part-time performing routine surgery and seeing patients.

When not at AMC, Dr. Nicholls and his wife Anna enjoy overseas veterinary mission work - traveling, literally, around the world treating sick pets and doing surgery, hiking with the coolest dog ever - Pippi, and bird watching. Dr. Nicholls has two grown, animal-loving children: Allen Graham and Brooke.
