Katherine Warren has been with VCA Animal Specialty Center since 2010. That same year she graduated with honors from Mercy College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, specializing in pre-veterinary medicine. She started as an LVT in Neurology and ICU, but soon realized that Oncology and ER were where she wanted to focus her efforts and expand her expertise. After going through chemo with her own pets and eventually losing 5 pets to cancer, she felt she had something extra special to give to the cancer patients and their families and decided to make a home in Oncology.
Originally planning on using her tech role as a stepping stone to becoming a veterinarian, Kathy, through working closely with Oncology patients and their families, began to feel the impact that she was having in the department and began to embrace the role. During this time she was promoted to Oncology Supervisor then Technician Supervisor, both roles where she could help her fellow technicians learn the vital skills that she had developed along the way. Always one to step up to a challenge, Kathy has now taken on the role of Hospital Director, where she hopes to continue to help others and to lead by example.
In Katherine’s spare time she shares her home with her 5 cats and 1 dog, each of which has their own medical challenges. Kathy has an adventurous spirit as well and enjoys extreme sports such as bungie jumping and skydiving, with her most recent adventure taking her zip-lining on the tallest and longest line at Hunter Mountain.
