Dr. Tangeman graduated from the University of California College of Veterinary Medicine in Davis in 1988. After completing a large animal surgery internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, she returned to southern California to practice equine medicine. Soon she began to miss the north state and moved north to join a mixed animal practice. This led to a strong interest in small animal medicine and brought her to VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 1994. In 2003, she participated in the Don Low Practitioner Fellowship program at U.C. Davis in the ophthalmology department. Her cats name is Cecil and her chihuahua's name is Umi.
