Dana
Veterinary Technician Supervisor CVT

Fear Free Certified Professional

Dana grew up with all sorts of pets-dogs, cats, birds, hermit crabs, fish, even ducks—and always felt a natural connection with animals. As a teenager, she couldn’t get enough of animal programs on television. The older she got, the clearer it became: Dana was destined for a career in animal medicine!

Dana is a Pittsburgh native and received her biology degree from The Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, she worked at two different animal clinics before heading to Colorado to attend the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology, where she earned her degree in veterinary technology. While on breaks from school, Dana shadowed here at VCA Bakerstown Animal Hospital; she was offered a job by Dr. Reed before she had even graduated with her certification!

Dana’s favorite part of her job is helping clients to better understand their pets. She loves problem-solving, and particularly enjoys dentistry work and the fast-paced nature of her job. Having worked here for over 10 years, Dana also loves watching clients’ pets—not to mention human children—grow up over time.

At home, Dana, her husband and son have a dog and two cats, all of whom are rescues. Ava, a Boxer/Blue Heeler mix, was adopted from right here at VCA Bakerstown Animal Hospital; domestic shorthair Rupert was left at the doorstep of VCA Bakerstown; and Raja, also a domestic shorthair, was taken in after completing a course of physical therapy at Dana’s house.

Dana holds two claims to fame: she’s been in the Guinness Book of World Records twice! The first time was in 1996, when Dana’s school marching band completed the official Longest Musical March (50.1 miles in 14 hours). The second was in 2015, when Dana participated in the world’s longest parade of Jeeps.
