When designated as a Cat Friendly Practice, veterinary clinics have proven they have taken specific extra steps to assure they understand a cat’s unique needs, have implemented feline-friendly standards, and have made changes to decrease stress and provide a more calming environment, such as feline-only waiting areas and exam rooms. Veterinary staff have also been trained in feline-friendly handling and cat behavior in order to increase the quality of care for your cat.

Developed by “America’s Veterinarian”, Dr. Marty Becker, the Fear Free initiative aims to “take the ‘pet’ out of ‘petrified’” and promotes considerate approach and gentle control techniques used in calming environments. Utilization of Fear Free methods and protocols leads to reduction or removal of anxiety triggers, which creates an experience that is rewarding and safer for all involved, including petes, their owners, and veterinary health care teams. The end result? Calmer, more accepting patients and better veterinary care.
