Shawn Downs joined the VCA team in August 2015 and greatly enjoys his work at the front desk. After working as both a pharmacy tech and in retail sales, Shawn has found that his happiest days are spent working with animals. He began his veterinary career in 2007 and continues to find his heart and soul every day in the faces of the pets who visit the office.

At home, Shawn loves taking care of his family of rescued cats: Bosley, Quentin, Josette and Freddy Porch. He enjoys movies, music and theatre, never misses an episode of Days of our Lives and General Hospital and his favorite star of all time is the one and only Cher. Every summer, Shawn meets up with his friends in the Dark Shadows Fan Club, who hold annual conventions with the original actors in honor of the classic supernatural TV show from the 1960's.

"Working in the veterinary field is one of the most rewarding jobs out there," he says. "Not only do you feel good about the animals you help, you're also helping the people who love them."
