Johnny Mullins
Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Mullins is a 2019 graduate of the Royal Veterinary College, UK. Upon graduating, he spent his first year in practice working in a central London hospital, where he gained a keen interest in small animal surgery. When the opportunity came up to pursue further training in surgery, he moved to Surrey in the UK to undertake an 18-month surgical internship in advanced orthopedic and neurosurgery at Fitzpatrick Referrals, under the mentorship of Professor Noel Fitzpatrick. At the beginning of 2022, following three years in practice he made the decision to move to New York and started working at VCA Colonial.

While his primary interest is in surgery, with plans to specialize in the coming years, he also maintains an interest in small animal medicine, anesthesia and diagnostic imaging and is currently undertaking a Master's Degree at the University of Liverpool to become an advanced practitioner in these disciplines.

He is currently publishing research in the surgical management of taller ridge osteochondritis dissecans in dogs, chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of canine lower urinary tract tumors with Fitzpatrick Referrals and in feline cardiology with the University of Cambridge in the UK.

Dr. Mullins is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was born and raised before moving to London for University. Outside of work, his main interests include rugby, cooking and drawing, which encompass most of his spare time. He is very excited after his recent move to New York, to provide a high level of care to the pets of Ithaca!
