Mariah W.
Veterinary Assistant
Mariah began working in the field of veterinary medicine as a CSR in March 2018. She joined the VCA Columbia Animal Hospital at Centre Park in October 2019 as a CSR, and was later cross-trained as a Veterinary Assistant. She enjoys working in surgery and has found her passion as a surgery assistant. Currently, she is working towards becoming a registered technician, then certified in the areas of surgery and anesthesia and analgesia.

"My first job with animals was a side gig as a dog walker/pet sitter while I was interning at an environmental advocacy non-profit. I absolutely loved spending time with and watching my pet clients grow! However, I wasn't feeling intellectually stimulated by the work. It wasn't until I researched the medication of one dog client that I was indirectly introduced to the veterinary assistant occupation. I did a lot of research and found that this career would be the perfect opportunity for me to care for animals and satisfy my curiosity. Now I can't imagine doing anything else!"
