Penny Kupferberg, Medical Director

DVM

School: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in Wildlife Biology and Management in 1983. I graduated from the Ross University with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, after completing my final year of training at Oklahoma State University and Ontario Veterinary College. I also completed an externship in avian medicine at an Avian Specialty Practice in Montreal, Quebec. I practiced veterinary medicine at VCA Indian Trace Animal Hospital in Weston for thirteen years. In 2005, I opened the VCA Coral Springs Pet Resort & Medical Center.

I am a native New Yorker living in Florida since 1988. I have two children in college and currently live in Parkland with my husband and 2 dogs, Alex and Angel.

My parents told me that when I was 10 years old I wrote to Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine after watching the movie Dr. Dolittle. My goal to become a Veterinarian was set early in life. I spent the majority of my middle school years rescuing stray cats and dogs and rehoming them. I attended a magnet high school with a program for kids who wanted to be Veterinarians. I spent the summers working on farms, dairy and horse farms to be specific, to gain large animal experience. There was never a question in my mind about what my profession would be. My path was always clear and straight. With almost 30 years under my belt at this point, I still get excited about going to work each day. I know without a doubt that no other path or profession could have possibly been more rewarding.
