An ultrasound is a pain-free, non-invasive diagnostic procedure. Our trained veterinary staff uses a hand-held wand to scan the identified area. The technician can either display real-time images or create a still photo in order to obtain measurements, calculate fluid amounts, or monitor blood flow. In addition, ultrasound can be used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests, such as biopsies and aspirations, with little to no stress for your pet.

Common uses for abdominal ultrasound include:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Pregnancy
• Screening for cancer
• Urinary bladder disease
