Rachel S. Boltz, Staff Veterinarian / RSO of Desert Inn Feline Center

MS, DVM, DABVP

Although Dr. Rachel Boltz is new to VCA's DIAH, she is not new to veterinary medicine. She received her DVM degree from Michigan State University in 2001 and has been in the companion animal clinical setting for 18 years. In 2008, she was awarded the National Winner of the Thank Your Vet For A Healthy Pet contest as Best Veterinarian in America. She is a past Don-Low Practitioner Fellow (2008-2009) in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis College of Veterinary Medicine and received a Certificate of Achievement in Hemodialysis from the same institution years later (2015-2016). Dr. Boltz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Feline Practice, originally credentialed in 2009 and re-credentialed in 2019.

Dr. Boltz has pursued advanced training in: diagnostic ultrasound (abdominal, thoracic/cardiac, FASTVetR); advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures; and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy and bronchoscopy. Dr. Boltz has focused her career on all aspects of feline practice, from establishing cat-friendly hospital environments to receiving complex medical or surgical cases.

Dr. Boltz is currently pursuing a PhD in Integrative Physiology at UNLV. In her spare time, she brushes her menagerie of cats (which is a never ending, thankless task!).
