Maria K., Veterinary Assistant

Maria was born in Bulgaria and grew up in Maryland. After completing her B.S. in Biology at McGill University in 2018, she took a gap year to work as a veterinary assistant and volunteer at a local wildlife rehabilitation center. In 2019, she moved to Fort Collins to purse a DVM at Colorado State University and is currently a third-year veterinary student. She is an aspiring wildlife veterinarian whose future career goals are to help mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on animal health and the environment through environmental conservation missions, research, and educational public outreach. She also has special interests in emergency medicine and neurology.

In her free time, Maria enjoys rock climbing, hiking, intramural soccer, playing chess, and taking every opportunity to explore new places in Colorado
