Your Community Partners

Caring for pets means meeting a wide range of needs beyond health care. Fortunately, there’s a whole community of organizations and businesses eager to help.

Here’s where to meet the local groups that we recommend to our pet-loving families.

Airport Pet Emergency Clinic

"What do I do? My pet is sick and my veterinarian is closed!"

Let us help you. Your pet is a member of your family and you don't have to wait to provide him/her with the highest quality medical care. Airport Pet Emergency Clinic (APEC) was established in 1994 in a small building across from the Tri-Cities Airport. The goal then, and what we continue to strive for now, is to provide help for those animals and owners who are struck by something unexpected in the 'off' hours. APEC operates around the normal veterinary clinic hours to meet your pet's emergency needs. We are fully staffed over night during the week (6pm - 8am) and open our doors at 6pm on Friday, not to close until Monday morning at 8am.

Happy Tails Animal Rescue

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of animals from the harm of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and unnecessary euthanasia and to the placement of animals in loving, lifetime homes. We support and promote spaying and neutering of all cats and dogs to help control the pet overpopulation and promote education of the public about responsible pet ownership. Members of Happy Tails have been practicing animal rescue since 2003 and over 13,500 animals have been saved at this time.

Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team

What began as one dog on an airplane several years ago has evolved into a team of over 100 volunteers who fly or drive animals from danger to safety. Founded in 2009 by pilots and friends Brad Childs and Jonathan Plesset, the organization become a recognized 501c(3) entity in 2012. Since then our teams have conducted a wide range of missions including hoarding cases, saving animals from dog fighting rings and natural disasters, and helping overcrowded shelters. We now have the capability to respond to a huge variety of rescue needs both near and far.
