Dr. Jason Smith spent his early years in Massachusetts and New Jersey. He attended Rider University in New Jersey where he earned his undergraduate degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Through college and up to acceptance to veterinary school, Dr. Smith worked as a technician in several small animal veterinary hospitals in New Jersey. He has worked with many different small animals and wildlife. During college, Dr. Smith also volunteered at an Equine referral hospital in New Jersey, where he worked with foals. In 2001, Dr. Smith relocated to the mid-west where he attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jason Smith graduated with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2005 with honors and relocated to North Carolina for the weather, mountains, and beaches. Dr. Smith practiced in Raleigh for two years before joining VCA Timberlyne and VCA Legion Road Animal Hospitals.
Dr. Smith enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. He has medically and surgically treated dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, prairie dogs, sugar gliders, chinchillas, hedgehogs, hamsters, mice, gerbils, and pot bellied pigs. His favorite aspects of the VCA Timberlyne and VCA Legion Road Animal Hospitals are the strives that his fellow veterinarians take in providing quality care. He appreciates the open communication the veterinarians take with each other and pet owners. He is grateful for the level of continuing education the hospitals seek in strengthening the teams knowledge of companion animals. Dr. Smith enjoys the compassionate nature of his coworkers. He is thankful for the caring and dedicated pet owners along with having the opportunity to watch animals grow from babies through adulthood.
Dr. Smith currently lives in Morrisville with his wife, three children, and three cats (Leena, Sushi and Twinkle). On his days off, he spends his time with his family. He volunteers his time in the community by serving both pets and people through various organizations. Dr. Smith enjoys tent camping, hiking, and playing soccer and basketball with his daughters.
