Veterinary ophthalmology is the study and treatment of eyes and vision. Veterinary ophthalmology focuses on vision problems such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachments, and corneal ulcers, as well as diseases that affect the structures surrounding the eye, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, and some of the bones of the skull that comprise the eye socket.
A veterinary ophthalmologist is a doctor with additional training to diagnose and treat vision problems, combining medical and surgical treatments in order to most effectively treat your pet's eye problem.
