Veterinary Medical Director

PROVIDE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ILLNESSES AND INJURIES IN PET ANIMALS. PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL, MEDICAL AND NUTRITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS AND TREATMENT OF COMPANION ANIMALS. PERFORM EXAMINATIONS, DIAGNOSTIC, MEDICAL, SURGICAL, AND DENTAL PROCEDURES ON COMPANION ANIMALS IN A MANNER THAT IS CONSISTENT AND WILL DELIVER HIGH QUALITY CARE WHILE MINIMIZING PATIENT STRESS AND DISCOMFORT. EXPLAIN PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS AND GIVE APPROPRIATE PREVENTATIVE HEALTH CARE PROTOCOLS. RECOMMEND AND EXPLAIN PLANS FOR DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES AND FOR MEDICAL AND SURGICAL THERAPIES. REGULARLY DISCUSS ANIMAL CARE AND HOSPITAL PROTOCOL FOR TREATMENT OF ANIMALS WITH VETERINARIANS AND AND/OR STAFF TO OPTIMIZE
ANIMAL CARE. IMPLEMENT AND MAINTAIN CONSISTENT MEDICAL STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES WITHIN THE HOSPITAL BY REVIEWING STAFF VETERINARY PROTOCOL AND ENSURING STAFF IS FOLLOWING PROPER HOSPITAL VETERINARY PROTOCOL IN TREATMENT OF PET ANIMALS BY REVIEWING RECORDS AND OBSERVING STAFF TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. EVALUATE QUALITY MEDICAL/COMPLIANCE REPORTS ON A MONTHLY BASIS AND TAKE STEPS TO IMPROVE AREAS OF POOR PERFORMANCE WITH TEAM MEMBERS BY MEETING TO DISCUSS WAYS IN WHICH THE TEAM MEMBER SHOULD HAVE TREATED OR EVALUATED SUCH PET ANIMAL. REVIEW PATIENT RECORDS FOR COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY AND USE AS A TOOL TO PROMOTE MEDICAL EXCELLENCE. REVIEW AND APPROVE REQUESTS FOR ALTERNATIVES OF ADDITIONAL DRUGS AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR ANIMAL TREATMENT WITHIN THE HOSPITAL AS NEEDED.  

SERVES AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF THE HOSPITAL, AND HELPS CREATE AND DRIVE THE OVERALL DIRECTION FOR THE HOSPITAL THAT WILL ACHIEVE POSITIVE RESULTS THROUGH LEADERSHIP. FULFILLS ALL OF THE DUTIES OF A STAFF VETERINARIAN INCLUDING PROVIDING DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ILLNESSES AND INJURIES IN PET ANIMALS. PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL, MEDICAL AND NUTRITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS AND TREATMENT OF COMPANION ANIMALS. PERFORM EXAMINATIONS, DIAGNOSTIC, MEDICAL, SURGICAL, AND DENTAL PROCEDURES ON COMPANION ANIMALS IN A MANNER THAT IS CONSISTENT AND WILL DELIVER HIGH QUALITY CARE WHILE MINIMIZING PATIENT STRESS AND DISCOMFORT. REVIEW PATIENT RECORDS FOR COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY AND USE AS A TOOL TO PROMOTE MEDICAL EXCELLENCE. REGULARLY DISCUSS CASES WITH DOCTORS AND/OR STAFF TO OPTIMIZE PATIENT CARE.

Requires First Professional Degree of Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or its foreign equivalent plus two years prior experience as Veterinarian.  Must be licensed to practice Veterinary Medicine in the state of Virginia. Must have DEA license to prescribe controlled substances.
