Dr. Kristen Shuster joined VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in June 2020 after graduating from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. It was also in Edinburgh that she received her undergraduate degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.  Dr. Shuster was born in Sacramento, California but has been a world traveler since childhood. She grew up overseas in Singapore and China and during her pre-veterinary life, she did volunteer work and taught English in the local villages.

Dr. Shuster brought one feline member of her family back to the states: her cat Freya. Freya was a feral cat she adopted from the wilds of Scotland. However, Freya received a new housemate a few weeks after arrival when Dr. Shuster adopted a kitten from the Oregon Humane Society. The new cat is bound to be clever at hide and seek – as she needs to live up to the name Dr. Shuster chose: "Nessie!"
