Feline Radioactive Thyroid i-131 Treatment

Radioactive Iodine Therapy is now considered the treatment of choice for Feline Hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid glands produce an excess of the hormone that controls your cat's metabolic rate. This overproduction accelerates the wear and tear on your pet’s internal organs.

In order to stop this excess hormone production, Feline Radioactive Iodine (i-131) treatment is given. A member of our medical staff will inject a dose of Iodine-131 and your cat will remain with us in the hospital for a few days while their bodies excrete the iodine. The best news is that this therapy is 96% effective with only one treatment.
