Ariel Grubb, Medical Director

Dr. Ariel Grubb was born and raised in Spokane, WA and has had a natural affinity for animals since she was a young child. Her interest in animals, physiology, science and medicine grew steadily throughout her education with the help of her schooling, as well as from the influence of her medically oriented family. She jumped at the opportunity to care for the dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits that her family owned and made sure to come to their veterinary appointments to observe and learn.

Dr. Grubb attended Willamette University in Salem Oregon, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. While in college, she studied abroad in the Galapagos Islands, took Spanish language classes and volunteered with various veterinary and animal welfare organizations as part of the Pre-Veterinary Program, of which she was a founding member. She spent her college summers and holidays working as a veterinary assistant at a busy small animal veterinary clinic in Spokane, WA and also completed a short wildlife rehabilitation internship in Bellingham, WA. After graduating from college, she worked for one year as a veterinary assistant at a holistic veterinary clinic in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Grubb then attended veterinary school at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. While there, she took extracurricular credits in leadership, global animal health, public health, alternative and complimentary medicine, Spanish language, exotic animal medicine and surgery. She also continued to volunteer her time to animals in need and over the years has contributed to animal welfare efforts in Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and India.

After finishing veterinary school, Dr. Grubb held a position as an associate veterinarian in Spokane at the VCA North Division Animal Medical Center. In 2014, she and her partner, two dogs and two cats moved to Portland where she joined the VCA Raleigh Hills Animal Hospital.

The human-animal bond can be a saving grace in today’s busy and complicated world and animals are able to reconnect us with our loving and compassionate nature. Dr. Grubb hopes to offer quality health care, guidance and education to her clients so that the bond with their animals can be as free of health constraints as possible. She is happy to talk to clients about behavior, diet, oral health, weight maintenance, preventative health screening, parasite prevention, alternative and complimentary medicine, internal medicine and surgery. When appropriate, she will connect her clients to veterinary specialists for advanced diagnostics and treatments. She is looking forward to meeting you and your pets!
