Dr. Katie Kaczmarek grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, knowing that there was nothing else in the world she would rather do for a career than be a veterinarian. After a cumulative 8 years at Michigan State University earning her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, she realized that dream in 2005. After working out of state in Houston, TX and then Rhode Island for 10 years, she was thrilled to find her way back to West Michigan in 2015. Since then, she has been with Richland Animal hospital where she feels she has truly found her "home" practice. Dr. Katie has strong interests in internal medicine, dermatology, general surgery and dentistry. Her true love, however, is working closely with pet owners and their animals to keep them as healthy and happy as possible and supporting the human-animal bond. She became Medical Director in April of 2023 and is excited to play an integral roll in continuing to improve the care VCA Richland Animal Hospital is able to provide to both our clients and patients. 

In her spare time, Dr. Katie shares her love of the outdoors, camping, hiking, down-hill skiing and stand-up paddle boarding with her husband, Steve, and son, Ethan. On her days off, you are likely to find her running with her Vizsla, Utah, or riding horses. She also enjoys baking, painting and playing piano.
