Arturo Otamendi, Veterinary Specialist



Dr. Arturo Otamendi was born in Maracay, Venezuela and moved to the United States when he was 9 years old. He was raised outside of New Orleans, LA where he grew up until moving to Baton Rouge, LA to attend Louisiana State University for his undergraduate studies. He stayed in Baton Rouge and went on to graduate from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. He then moved to Raleigh, NC where he completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at North Carolina State University. After his internship, Dr. Otamendi moved back to the Deep South to work on a Neurology/Neurosurgery residency at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, which he completed in July of 2018.  His main clinical interests include traumatic spinal cord injuries, inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, and Neuro-Oncology. 
When not staying busy in the hospital, Dr. Otamendi loves to play music and is a classically trained trombonist. Soon, he hopes to become involved in the San Francisco music scene. He also loves spending time with his dog, a Shih Tzu named Rafiki, and his cat, a Domestic Short Hair named Reba.
