Cordell Rech, Staff Veterinarian

DVM

Dr. Cordell Rech is originally from San Antonio, TX where he grew up with his parents and older sister.  After attending undergraduate school in Arkansas, Dr. Rech was accepted into Texas A&M's veterinary school where he focused his learning on treating a wide variety of exotic species in addition to dogs and cats.  Upon graduating from Texas A&M, Dr. Rech chose to participate in a small animal medicine and surgery internship with South Texas Veterinary Specialists.  This internship allowed him to work closely with small animal specialists on difficult cases and gain a large amount of practical experience within a short period of time.  At the end of this internship, Dr. Rech continued to gain clinical experience through an avian and exotic animal internship in Connecticut with South Wilton Veterinary Group.  During his time there, he treated more than 80 different species of animals ranging from parakeets to geckos to fish.  Dr. Rech decided to bring his passion for exotic species to VCA Shaker Animal Hospital after completing his second internship in order to continue working with the animals he loves.  Dr. Rech lives with his Standard Poodle, Lily, and his Japanese Fire-Bellied Newts.  In his free time, Dr. Rech enjoys swimming, cooking, and traveling through the New England area, as well as visiting his two nieces back home in Texas.
