Dr. Rachel Schwartz has been part of the VCA family since 2014, but has been at Simmons Animal Hospital family since 2011. She is originally from New Jersey and migrated to south Florida by way of Southern California to be closer to family and friends. She is a 2001 graduate of University of Connecticut for her undergraduate degree and 2007 graduate of St. Georges's University School of Veterinary Medicine for her doctorate. When she first graduated, she did an internship in equine medicine, followed by practicing on horses for about 3 years. She then transitioned over the small animal medicine and fell in love. She has been practicing on small animals for about 7 years. Her special interests are preventative medicine, surgery, internal medicine and acupuncture. Dr Schwartz also really enjoys helping her patients and developing long lasting relationships with her clients. When she is not working, you can find Dr Schwartz out diving, fishing, boating, running or playing volleyball. She also enjoys spending time at home with her 2 dogs, Scuba and Breeze and 2 cats, Jersey and Cali.
When people ask why I became a veterinarian, my response is, €œI couldn't picture myself doing anything else other than what I'm doing. I truly love being a small animal veterinarian.
