Phyllis Neumann, Staff Veterinarian

DVM

Dr. Neumann received her undergraduate degree from Long Island University in New York State where she studied Biology and Marine Science.  While there she spent a semester at Plum Island Animal Disease Laboratory where she developed interests in exotic animal diseases and veterinary public health.  After receiving her BS degree she moved to Texas where she worked for the USDA, after which she continued her education at Texas A&M University earning a Masters in Epidemiology and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  Since then she has devoted her career to small animal medicine and has been treating animals at Todds Lane Animal Hospital since 1993.  She enjoys all facets of small animal practice with special interests in internal medicine, animal behavior, client education and public health.  She is a regular guest on the WHRV Public Radio call-in show, HearSay With Cathy Lewis, where she appears monthly to answer questions from the Hampton Roads community about pet health. When she’s not working she enjoys kayaking, hiking, biking, sailing, gardening, and spending time with her husband Alan and her Golden Retrievers  “Dale” and “Aubrey”. She is also an active member of the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club where she has served on the Board of Directors for several years. She enjoys volunteering her time to do trail maintenance on the Appalachian Trail as well as several state and local parks in the Tidewater area.
