Inger Reres
Veterinary Technician Specialist LVT, VTS (SAIM)
Inger has been working in veterinary medicine since 2003. Starting out as an assistant in a general practice hospital in Virginia, she quickly realized that she loved the hands-on portion of veterinary medicine, and after graduating college she took a position in an emergency hospital to explore the role of technicians. Upon moving back to NY, Inger decided to pursue her LVT through the Distance Education Veterinary Technician Program by AAHA, graduating near the top of her class and passing the VTNE with only one wrong question (on cow breeds, please forgive her).

Inger has a passion for small animal internal medicine and decided to pursue her specialty in that discipline, attaining Veterinary Technician Specialist credentialing in 2021. She works full time at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury, primarily in the internal medicine department, though she will gladly jump into any department, especially emergency. Most recently she completed the Human Animal Bond certification, and she can often be found pursuing  CE events to keep learning. Inger is also heavily concerned with safety protocols, with an emphasis in radiation safety. She has designed and presented hands free techniques to many local and regional support staff, and is responsible for the upkeep of her hospital's I-131 facility, equipment, and reporting.

Inger's life outside of the hospital is still animal centric; she is a frequent foster-mom and loves neonates.  She shares her home life with multiple rescued furry, feathered, and scaly friends, including her giant standard poodle, failed foster sheepdog, multiple medical malady cats and several exotic rescues; her benevolent husband looks forward to the day when their daughter (who is already an animal lover even as a toddler) can help mom care for the menagerie
