VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center prides itself on its exemplary care and attention to the patient. We extend that same care and attention to the pet owner at the time of their greatest need. Anyone who has experienced the severe illness of their companion animal, anyone struggling with decisions about palliative and end-of-life care and anyone who has experienced the loss of a beloved companion animal knows that this is a difficult and emotional process.
Grief upon the loss of a pet is a normal response and also a very individual one. Grieving is a complex process which includes a number of stages including, denial, bargaining, anger, sadness, and resolution. The stages often appear as a complex series of emotions and feelings. In most instances, the grieving process may continue up to a year. It has been shown that when grief can be expressed, the time needed for healing is often less. We are here to offer support and help you through this time.
VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center offers bereavement and grief counseling sessions the second Tuesday of each month from 6 - 7 PM. The group is run by Ann Beyke, M.A., LPC. To register for the group, contact Ann Beyke at 505 265-3087 or [email protected].
