Yes, we have an exotics DVM! Dr. Kotani is currently open for your ferret, rabbit, and guinea pig needs. As one of the few hospitals in town that see these pets, we urge you to schedule your appointment today.

Our support staff is also experienced and knowledgeable. Additionally, we have 7 veterinary assistants, 4 of which are currently enrolled in Veterinary Nursing programs. We are always supporting the future of veterinary medicine by hosting DVM and Veterinary Nursing student externs. If there seems to be an extra person in your pet’s exam, this is probably the case. We value a culture of learning and mentoring and appreciate your acceptance of these students involvement of your pet’s health.

Keeping up with forward thinking, VCA Lafayette Animal Hospital has begun practicing hands-free radiology techniques. Pushing the curve for patient and staff safety, we are moving to a more calming and hands off approach for your pets radiography needs. This cultivates a less stressful experience for your pet and lowers the everyday exposure of harmful radiation to staff. With this in mind, we also practice Fear Free handling of your pets. We know coming to the vet is not all of our patients’ favorite experience and try to make it as stress-free as possible for the pet and owners.

At VCA Lafayette Animal Hospital, we look forward to welcoming you and your pet. Everyone on our staff believes the better we get to know you and your pets, the better we can provide the best possible health care for them. In fact, when you come in, you'll see exactly why our veterinarians are praised for their kind and thorough care. We'll give you and your pet all the time you need, and never rush through an exam. We'll also carefully track the course of your pet's care, which is so important to your pet's long-term health.

American Animal Hospital Association

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
