"At Volunteers of America- we rebuild lives. Through comprehensive services focused on obtaining employment and affordable housing, VOA provides the blueprint for individuals to find hope and reach their full potential. We have found that it is not enough to give someone a warm meal, rather we work to remove the barriers that led to homelessness in the first place, to help them leave poverty behind for good."
"Each night, 1900 men, women and children seek shelter from a life on the streets at one of our programs. Just this past year, over 17,000 low-income individuals were served by Volunteers of America, with 14,000 of them being homeless. By providing individuals with the tools needed to be self-sufficient, VOA invests in and strengthens our community as a whole"
VOA at the Record Street homeless shelter is where VCA Lakeside Animal Hospital offers its annual free wellness clinics for pets of the homeless. These clinics are held once a month in June, July and August at the homeless shelter in downtown Reno.
