While the occasional sneeze is common for pets, an ongoing sneeze, repeated cough or continuously runny nose is a sign your pet should be seen by a veterinarian. A cough may indicate your pet has contracted a virus or a foreign object lodged in its throat, while frequent sneezing or a runny nose could mean your pet may be facing a serious respiratory issue.
When to visit VCA Urgent Care
Coughing/sneezing that does not resolve after a short period of time
Your pet has excessive nasal discharge
Nasal discharge that has crusted around the nose
