  • She has exceptional patient care, she cares about patient outcomes but also cares deeply for patient comfort and patient experience.
  • She is an exceptional teacher.
  • She is motivated to advance and grow other technicians.
  • She is an excellent example of a potential career growth path for technicians.

Angela worked full-time as a veterinary assistant to complete her Penn Foster degree. She successfully passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam for her own personal growth and achievement.

Becky

Credentialed Veterinary Technician
VCA Boone Animal Hospital | Illinois

Becky has been a member of Boone Animal Hospital since March 2010. Her constant positive energy, self-improvement and joy of teaching has blessed Boone for over ten years.

Becky is our main dental technician; her mornings are spent helping the doctors in the dental suite. Her attention to detail is noted with her cleaning, dental radiography, charting and anesthetic monitoring. Becky has mastered the scheduling of technicians and kennel assistants to create a smooth transition of doctors and patients. She knows what the doctors will need before they ask for it. Becky often has pearls or bits of knowledge she has picked up from an online course or article she has read on her own time.

Another amazing quality of Becky’s is the client education in veterinarian medicine. While obtaining routine histories, you can often hear her informing the clients about preventative medicine the doctors of Boone recommend. She explains the why behind our recommendations, so our clients better understand the care we want for their pets. She does this with a smile and often jokes with them. Her laughter is contagious, and you can hear it throughout the hospital.

Most notably, Becky is a wonder coach to all the staff at VCA Boone Animal Hospital. She takes new team members under her wing and helps them to learn while improving their technical and medical skill base. Becky mentors less experienced technicians and CVT students in the dental and surgery suites.

The doctors and team are proud to work beside her at VCA Boone Animal Hospital.

She gladly takes on students from our local TA school to provide their hands-on training.

She has kept up with the times, constantly evolving and learning as the standard of care has increased over the years. She is always ready to learn new things and attends every CE event she is able.

She has groupies...clients that come to the hospital to just see her and request her for their dental cleanings and procedures.

She the kind of technician that comes by the practice on her off time just to check on us when she knows we are in the weeds.

Kaori

Credentialed Veterinary Technician
VCA Cherry Bend Animal Hospital | Michigan

Kaori puts in the hours, and does the work that nobody else is willing to do on any given day.  She does this without question, and just simply does what is needed to keep the hospital functioning.  I have a lot to learn from her as a manager.  She sets her standards high, and achieves them, even if it means staying late or coming in on her day off.  This is respectable beyond recognition. I've only been a hospital manager for a couple of years, but she has helped way beyond words at helping me get settled in.   This year has obviously been frustrating, but she still comes in and works to the fullest day in and day out to keep this hospital running.  She deserves all the credit in the world for that.

Megan

Credentialed Veterinary Technician
VCA Crown Hill Animal Hospital | Washington

I am honored to nominate Megan for recognition as one of the stellar licensed technicians at VCA Crown Hill Animal Hospital. I have had the privilege of working with Megan for over five years and she is an absolute joy to work with. I am continuously impressed with Megan’s breadth of knowledge and technical skills and how she uses these skills to improve not just the technical team but the doctor team as well.  Megan goes above and beyond what is expected of her. Because of her vast knowledge and skillset, Megan is able to anticipate my next steps. She quickly and efficiently puts together estimates, collects lab samples and starts the necessary testing. She is our go to technician for IV catheter placement when we have patients with difficult veins and is more skilled than most our doctors at collecting urine via cystocentesis (we affectionately refer to her as the “pee queen”). Having worked here for over eight years, Megan also has an exceptional understanding of veterinary medicine. She asks me thoughtful questions about cases and has respectfully reminded me of diagnostics or treatments that I may want to consider for my patients. She is my checks and balances and has literally saved me more than a handful of times. Megan also took additional courses in veterinary dentistry and is not only instrumental in training our technicians on how to take dental x-rays, but is a valuable resource to the doctors with her extensive dental knowledge. I can go on and on about how amazing Megan is as a technician, but it is also important to point out that Megan has a very positive and cheerful attitude. I have never seen her angry, frustrated or disrespectful to anyone. She is the type of person that draws people to her and is loved by not just our veterinary team but our clientele as well.  I am so thankful to have Megan as part of my VCA team and I hope we can recognize her for all the extraordinary work that she does every day at Crown Hill. Please do not hesitant to reach out if you have any questions about how wonderful Megan is.

For 15+ years, she has been the rock on which our hospital runs. She is leveraged to the max on what a licensed technician can do. Her hunger and enthusiasm for this profession has her constantly looking for areas to grow in her career, and she has taken every opportunity to learn everything she can.  She runs all anesthesia, extracts teeth, and makes every appointment day more efficient. She goes way above and beyond to stay with me no matter how late surgeries run and until every task is complete. She has an amazing rapport with the clients and they all trust her 100%. She catches mistakes and solves problems as they arise immediately. She is an expert on all the equipment and handles all servicing and repairs. She makes an effort to train others and lift up those around her.  She is a beast at cleaning and organization. I cannot say enough to do justice to how much she means to me, our hospital, and clients.
