We understand that emergencies are not planned events. When your family veterinarian is not available, we are here for you. When you place your beloved pet in the hands of our caring and capable veterinarians and staff, you can be assured that the best medical care will be given to your pet and the best in client service and courtesy will be extended to you.
Everyone's safety remains a top priority. You may visit our hospital as needed unless you are sick or medically quarantined. Each VCA hospital has health and safety protocols in place based on health care best practices as well as state and local guidance and regulations.
Please call us before your visit so we can discuss the necessary safety protocols.
All patients are seen on an emergency walk-in basis. While we do not make appointments, in order to help our staff prepare for your pet’s visit, we ask that you call us in advance whenever possible.
Many patients are referred to us by their primary veterinarian. If your regular veterinarian refers you to us, please have them send over your pet’s medical records in advance, or bring a copy with you.
Please be sure to bring your pet to the hospital on a leash or in a carrier. If you need assistance bringing your pet inside, please call ahead or let us know upon arrival, and our team will be happy to assist with transporting your pet.
Special Note: If your pet has ingested a toxic substance, please bring save the packaging and collect any information you can about what was ingested and when. We will advise you to call Pet Poison Helpline at (855) 764-7661 to speak with a board-certified toxicologist, who will consult with our veterinarians on the best care plan for your pet.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a staff member who will verify your information, check you in for your pet’s visit, and advise you of the anticipated wait time.
Next, a technician will speak with you to ask more detailed questions about your pet’s medical history and presenting concern(s). The technician will then bring your pet to the treatment area for further evaluation. To allow maximum safety and efficiency in providing care to critically ill or injured pets, the treatment area is restricted to employees only.
Just like in a human ER, patients are seen in order of medical severity. Those in critical condition will be seen first, while those in more stable condition may experience a longer wait to be examined by the veterinarian. If there is a wait time for your pet, you can rest assured that your pet will remain closely monitored by our technician staff at all times.
After the veterinarian completes their examination, they will consult with you to discuss their findings and suggest a treatment plan for your pet, including a cost estimate for treatment.
The health and safety of our patients is a top priority, and we take careful precautions to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. If your pet is experiencing symptoms of a potentially contagious illness, you may be asked to wait in your vehicle with your pet upon arrival. A technician will retrieve your pet from you and bring them into the hospital through our isolation area. Symptoms include:
The initial exam fee is $175, which is collected at check-in for all emergency visits. Further diagnostics and treatment may be recommended, and will be at an additional cost.
Payment is due in full at the time of service. For patients being admitted to the hospital for treatment, or undergoing a procedure or surgery, an additional deposit will be required.
