We’re committed to providing a safe, clean, and enriching experience for every pet in our care. To ensure the well-being of all guests, please review the following policies prior to your pet's stay.
Health & Vaccination Requirements
To maintain a healthy environment for all, pets must be current on the following vaccines, administered by a licensed veterinarian:
Dogs
- Rabies
- Distemper/Parvo (DHPP)
- Bordetella
Cats
Parasite-Free Policy: Pets must be free of internal or external parasites (e.g., fleas, intestinal parasites). If any parasites are found during your pet’s stay, treatment will be provided and charged to the owner.
Medical Treatment Authorization: If a medical issue arises, our staff veterinarians will evaluate and treat your pet as deemed appropriate. The owner is financially responsible for any resulting treatment expenses.
Medication: Medications and supplements can be administered for an additional fee. All medications must be provided in original labeled containers with clear instructions.
Diabetic Cats: We are unable to board diabetic cats. Please speak with a veterinary team member to discuss hospitalization options for diabetic cats.
Please provide written proof of vaccination and deworming before check-in. If any requirements are missing or expired, a veterinary exam and treatment will be performed upon arrival (fees apply).
Group Play & Socialization
- Dogs may participate in group play if they are:
- Over 6 months of age and spayed/neutered
- Friendly and non-aggressive toward other dogs
- Puppies under 6 months of age may participate in group play regardless of spay/neuter status.
- Dogs that are intact (over 6 months) or have displayed aggression will not be allowed in group sessions.
- Unaltered or reactive dogs will receive individual enrichment and playtime with staff.
- Dogs will be evaluated before group play to ensure safety and compatibility.
Playtime Injuries
Just like children in day care, dogs may occasionally return home with minor bumps or scratches from supervised play. While rare, bites or injuries can occur, even in safe group settings.
By boarding your dog with us, you acknowledge and accept this risk and agree not to hold VCA Timpanogos Animal Hospital liable, provided reasonable precautions have been followed.
Aggression or Difficult Handling
- Please inform us if your pet has a history of aggression toward people or other animals in any setting, fear-based behaviors, or if they become easily stressed in new environments. This helps us provide safe and personalized care.
- If your pet requires extra restraint, handling, or becomes aggressive with staff, handling fees may apply.
- For the safety of our team and other pets, pets that exhibit significant or repeated aggression may not be accepted for boarding.
Breed Restrictions
For safety reasons, we are unable to board the following breeds or mixes:
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- American Staffordshire Terrier
- American Pit Bull Terrier
- American Bully
- Cane Corso
- Presa Canario
- Fila Brasileiro
- Dogo Argentino
- Wolf or Wolf Hybrids
Shared Kennel Policy (Multiple Dogs)
We’re happy to accommodate dogs from the same household in a shared kennel if space allows. To ensure safety:
- Only dogs from the same family with the same owner on record may share a kennel.
- Intact (unspayed/unneutered) dogs may not share a kennel with other pets.
- If pets show signs of aggression or distress:
- They will be separated immediately
- You will be charged for an additional kennel
- You will be responsible for any medical care resulting from injury between pets
Facility & Overnight Care
- Our team is on-site daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm for supervision, feeding, and enrichment.
- Overnight care is not provided.
- Cats are securely housed in their condos overnight with access to bedding, fresh water, and a clean litter box.
- Dogs are safely secured in their individual, climate-controlled kennel during this time.
Personal Belongings
- We provide clean, comfortable bedding and toys during your pet’s stay.
- You are welcome to bring a small blanket, bed, or toy from home to help your pet feel more at ease.
- While we do our best to track personal items, we are not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.
Emergency Contact Requirement
While we will attempt to contact you first if any issues arrive, we ask that you please provide a local emergency contact who is authorized to make medical or boarding decisions on your behalf if you are unreachable during your pet’s stay.
Acknowledgment of Risk
While every reasonable effort is made to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort, boarding in a new environment may carry some inherent risks. By boarding your pet with us, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Minor stress-related issues may occur, even under close supervision.
- Although we take all reasonable precautions, VCA Timpanogos Animal Hospital and its staff are not liable for injury, illness, escape, or death, provided proper care has been given.
Client Agreement
By boarding your pet with us, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the above policies.
