We are very excited to welcome Dr. Joseph Richter, who joined the practice as Medical Director in December of 2019! Dr. Joe grew up on a dairy farm in northeast Indiana and graduated from Purdue University in 2002. Following graduation from Veterinary School, he did a medical and surgical internship at Sacramento Animal Medical Group in Sacramento, California from 2002 to 2003. From 2003 until 2014, he practiced at a VCA hospital in Tacoma, Washington, providing general wellness services, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. In 2015, Dr. Joe took on the role of medical director at a 24-hour emergency hospital in Uniontown, Ohio. In 2017, Dr. Joe and his wife made the choice to relocate to Wisconsin to be closer to family, and Dr. Joe then became Medical Director at VCA Saukville, a role he still occupies in conjunction with his position at MECA. Professionally he enjoys orthopedic surgery and endoscopy. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, sporting events, travel and spending time with his family.
