Dr. Mark A. Koeppl was born in Wisconsin and has always been drawn to animals. After an undergraduate education at UW Platteville, he received his DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. During his subsequent internship, the allure of emergency and critical care became apparent and he has focused on this aspect of veterinary Medicine. He joined, owned and managed the first Veterinary ER in Madison until selling it in 2014. Now, in semi retirement, he enjoys doing ER shifts, spending time outside on his bison ranch, and wintering in Costa Rica. Besides the bison, he and his wife Sheryl have ten cats and three dogs.
