Born in California and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, Matt came to Denver in 1995 to attend Bel-Rea veterinary technician school. Upon graduating in 1996, Matt accepted a position as the kennel supervisor and has served in this position for over 21 years. He also supervises ordering therapeutic pet foods for the hospital. He has completed the Hill's Veterinary Nutritional Consultant program and the Royal Canin Nutritional Counselor training.

Matt married his wife, Sandra, three days after graduating from Bel-Rea, and they have three sons, Christopher (20 years old), Sean (19 years old), and Eric (12 years old). Matt and Sandra also have two Siamese cats, Chloe and Wyatt.
