Dr. Carolina Alvarez was born in Ohio and raised between Ohio and Spain, where her family is originally from. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2015. Dr. Alvarez then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia where she graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2019. While in school she traveled as much as she could while pursuing her studies and has been on every continent except Antarctica! After graduating vet school, she stayed with her mentors at University of Georgia and completed a large animal rotating internship. The following year she moved to Tucson for yet another internship and completed advanced training in small animal medicine at a 24 hour emergency private practice and zoological medicine with Dr. Roth at Reid Park Zoo. She is most interested in large animal and zoological medicine and still goes to the zoo every week. Tucson has become home! She lives with her significant other, German Shepherd mix named Callie, and fosters Great Danes when she can. When she isn’t working she thoroughly enjoys the outdoors, drawing, and travel!
