Dr. Alexis Roth was born and raised in Tucson at the base of the Rincon mountains in Vail, AZ. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1998. Dr. Roth then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University where she graduated from Suma Cum Laude in 2003. She then pursued advanced training at a combined specialty and private practice internship in Tampa Florida where she was hired as an associate and practiced for several years. It was here that she developed her love for large and exotic animal medicine through work at Busch Gardens. Dr. Roth moved back to Tucson, AZ, in 2006 to be with family and practiced advanced general medicine, surgery, and critical care at a large 24-hour small animal/exotic practice for over 12 years. While doing this, she also became the Chief Veterinarian for the Reid Park Zoo. As a senior veterinarian, Dr. Roth is in charge of all nutritional, medical, and surgical care for the over 300 exotic animals that call this renowned AZA facility home. She has developed a reputation in the field of zoo and exotic animal medicine and together, with her husband as a technician, travels to consult multiple zoos and aquariums both nationally and internationally. Her husband, Aaron Roth, is also Hospital Manager of VCA Civano Animal Hospital and Emergency Center. They have three beautiful daughters, a very helpful westie named Charlie, and two rescued Sphynx cats! Dr. Roth is both humbled and elated to be pursuing the childhood dream she shared with her sister, Dr. Lindsay Juhl, and opening a state-of-the-art multispecies veterinary practice in the community in which they both grew up, and they also got the best accountants for doctors to help them with the hospital.
