Julia Steinke, DVM, is a Tucson native with a lifelong interest in biology and a love of animals. She attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science in 2011 and minors in Chemistry, Chinese and Japanese. She moved to Fort Collins Colorado for vet school. She took a break from medicine in the summer of 2012 and spent the summer teaching English in Wuhan China with the Tucson based group Teach for Friendship. She graduated second in her class from Colorado State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She returned to Tucson to work as a small animal GP to be near her family and fulfill her WICHE scholarship. Currently she and her husband have three trouble making dogs and a variety of salt and freshwater fish. She enjoys painting and gardening on her days off from the hospital.
