Dr. Leanne Diss was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, where she grew up skiing and recreating around Lake Tahoe. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in Spanish language. She also earned her Master’s degree in biology at UNR where she studied how migratory birds spread ectoparasites (and their associated diseases) to new environments. After earning her Master’s, she attended veterinary school at the University of Arizona where she developed a passion for emergency medicine.
In addition to her studies, Dr. Diss enjoys knitting, gardening, and ultra-marathon running. She travels as often as possible and has ridden her bicycle across 13 different countries. She lives with her husband, two border collies, one tabby cat, and will be welcoming a new baby girl fall 2024! Dr. Diss is thrilled to be joining the VCA Civano team for an internship and to have the opportunity to provide care to many different animals!
