Doctor Zahorecz is of Hungarian descent and grew up primarily in southern California. He attended undergraduate university at UCLA and is a devout Bruin fan. He received his veterinary degree at the University of California Davis in 1987. Doctor Zahorecz practiced in the Los Angeles area for 20 years and was 50% owner of a practice for eight years before moving to Prescott in 2007.
His professional interest is in small animal medicine, including some small mammals, and has over 25 years of clinical experience in abdominal ultrasound and guided biopsy techniques.
Doctor Zahorecz's wife, Patty, is also a UC Davis graduate and is an equine veterinarian. They have two daughters—one a business graduate from The King's College in New York and the other has a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from the University of Arizona. The family also includes two dogs—Pufti and Willow, who are both boxers, as well as a horse named Grace. His other interests include mountain biking, hiking, motorcycling and snowboarding.
