Shelby Coston
Associate Veterinarian DVM

Dr. Shelby Coston grew up in the mountains of Northern Arizona, where her family owned horses, llamas, sheep, chickens, dogs, and cats.

Watching the family veterinarians treat animals, and administering pet care herself from a young age inspired Dr. Coston to become a veterinarian.

Dr. Coston's veterinary career began in Arizona, where she worked as an assistant during college. She then worked as a veterinary technician while attending college in Utah before earning her animal science degree at the University of Idaho. She attended veterinary school at the Western University of Health Sciences, graduating with high honors before completing a one-year rotating surgery and emergency medicine internship. Internal medicine is one of Dr. Coston's passions.

She has been trained extensively in abdominal and cardiac ultrasound and loves to use it as a diagnostic tool. Preventative medicine is also very important to her and Dr. Coston feels that building a strong working relationship with her clients is the best way to keep pets healthy for as long as possible.

Dr. Coston moved back to Arizona in September 2015 to start her new adventure in Prescott. Dr. Coston and her husband have two children, a boy and a girl. The family shares their home with an Aussie named Moose; a roof dog named Lilah (yes-Lilah likes climbing on the roof); a mini-Aussie named Bubba; plenty of horses, cows and chickens.

Outside of her work in veterinary medicine, Dr. Coston tries to spend as much time as possible with her family. Together, they love hiking, fishing, sports, and traveling. Dr. Coston also enjoys riding horses and painting when she gets the chance.
