Teresa joined the VCA family as a registered veterinary technician in September 2010. Originally from Northern California, she moved to Barrow, Alaska, in 2001 and worked for the North Slope Borough for eight years as a veterinary technician, animal control officer, and lay vaccinator for Barrow and seven surrounding villages. Although she enjoyed the adventures of the great North, it was time to move her family closer to the Anchorage area, and she has lived in Eagle River ever since.
In 2012, Teresa was promoted to hospital manager and now gets the best of both worlds: working on the administrative side of the hospital while still having opportunities to perform technician duties and spend time doting on, cuddling, and playing with the patients who visit the hospital.
Teresa lives in Eagle River with her husband, Roger, and their four wonderful children—three sons and a daughter who has already shown an interest in following in her mother's footsteps as an animal lover. In January 2026, Teresa also welcomed her first grandson to the family.
In addition to the humans she shares her life with, Teresa has a drooly English Mastiff named Amelia, a rescued yellow Labrador Retriever named Douglas, and a spirited blue Australian Cattle Dog named Piper. As if one Australian Cattle Dog was not enough, Teresa also rescued a second Australian Cattle Dog from a shelter in Texas. Aero has since become her constant companion on many of her adventures.
Teresa enjoys spending time with her family and taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Alaska has to offer, with fishing being her favorite. During the summer months, you can find her cheering on her daughter at horse events of all kinds with Amos, their goofy but versatile Tennessee Walking Horse. During the winter months, she enjoys competitive bowling, reading, and always has a new craft project in the works.
Fun Fact: While living in Barrow, Teresa rescued two baby walruses. One now resides at the Indianapolis Zoo, and the other lives in San Diego, California.
