Advanced Care

VCA Briargate Veterinary Clinic has advanced training and expertise to assist your pet with their cancer treatments. Our advanced medical facilities have the proper diagnostic and treatment capabilities to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet.

Pet Cancer Tumors & Diseases

Cancerous tumors and lesions are health concerns, which impact both dogs and cats. There are a wide variety of lumps and bumps that can develop, and not all are cancerous. It is often difficult to identify which tumors are cancerous without advanced diagnostic testing.

Our advanced diagnostic tools and onsite laboratory are able to accurately diagnose and differentiate benign tumors from cancerous tumors. The most common diagnostic test is a fine needle biopsy. This test uses a small needle to take a sample of the tumor, and it is evaluated under a microscope.

Pet Chemotherapy

Pet chemotherapy is a treatment option for pets diagnosed with cancer. It can be used as the sole treatment or in combination with other treatment options such as surgery or radiation. We provide a customizable chemotherapy treatment program, which allows us to minimize the side effects typically associated with chemotherapy treatments such as your pet feeling ill or hair loss.
The specific treatment protocol for chemotherapy is assessed on a case-by-case basis. In some instances, pet chemotherapy can be given as an oral tablet that you administer at home. Others types are brief injections that require an outpatient appointment. Alternatively, some instances will require slow infusions or repeated treatments throughout the day.

Pet Palliative Care

Pet palliative care is specialized veterinary care for pets with serious illnesses. The focus is to provide pets with relief from their symptoms such as pain and stress. The goal is to improve your pet’s quality of life, keep them comfortable, and reduce pain.

We appreciate the unique bond between you and your pet, and understand the stress and anxiety associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment. Please contact us to discuss your pet’s treatment options or to book an appointment.
