Dr. Lauren Thigpen joined the VCA Herndon-Reston Animal Hospital team in February 2015. After graduating from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2007, she went on to complete a year-long internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, Connecticut. From 2008-2015, Dr. Thigpen was an Associate Veterinarian at Countryside Animal Clinic, and we are now glad to have her as part of our team!

Dr. Thigpen always enjoyed animals as a child, and excelled in math and science courses. Finally showing an interest in medicine in her high school and college years, she decided to pursue Veterinary medicine towards the beginning of her undergraduate studies. Dr. Thigpen shows a special interest in cases involving internal medicine and geriatric illnesses.

When not practicing medicine, she enjoys snowboarding, outdoor activities (hiking, biking), entertainment (movies, concerts, theater), and spending time with her dog, Maya.
