Dr. Dylan Spitzer was born and raised on a farm in rural North Dakota, during which time his love for all animals became evident- whether it was picking up a wild skunk in their family's pasture, providing comfort and care for their blind horse, running around the farm with a variety of dogs and cats, or delivering a calf for the first time, Dylan knew from an early age that he had an affinity toward working/interacting with all creatures great and small.
He attended undergrad at North Dakota State University (Go Bison!) and veterinary school at Colorado State University (Go Rams!), and was fortunate enough to participate in track and field at both schools, running multiple events and winning the Division 1 Independent National Championship in the 400m hurdles in 2005. He still considers himself an athlete, although he's traded the track for the beautiful hiking trails of the White Mountains, and has completed the 48 4,000 footers twice (so far).
If he isn't hiking with his dogs Lance and Gunner, Dylan is most likely spending time with his two children, Annika and Everett, and his wonderful wife Ally, exploring all that NH has to offer or traveling the country to visit friends and family. Dylan has worked in NH since graduating from veterinary school in 2009, and has been with VCA Lakes Region Veterinary Hospital since November 2022. He enjoys the challenging variety of daily life as a veterinarian, and has a keen interest in surgery and dentistry.
