Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Katie Guest grew up in Maryland and graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Biology. She then came to the Lakes Region in 1999 after completing her veterinary training at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
After working in veterinary medicine in the Lakes Region for over 20 years, Dr Guest has found that she gets the most enjoyment out of the lifelong relationships she has made with her patients as well as the patient’s family. “I truly enjoy seeing the young puppies and kittens on their first visit to the clinic. But, what is even more fulfilling is working with their families over the course of the pets life and seeing the pet at age 3, 7, 10, and even 15 years of age. Being connected with both pet, family and in sense the community is what drives me in this profession.”
Dr Guest also enjoys the challenges of surgery. “I do enjoy being able to fix things. Surgery, although it can be stressful, has great rewards.” Dr. Guest preforms most general surgeries and has an interest in eye and dental surgeries.
Dr. Guest has limited her practice to part time in order to keep up with her ever busy family life. Raising four kids in Lakes Region means that most free time is spent driving to and from various after school sporting events or activities. But when not driving the kids to and from, she enjoys hiking with her husband, Dr John Guest, all over the White and Belknap mountains, skiing, being on the lake and spending time with the amazing friends they have made in the Lakes Region.
