The Foundation for Care of Indigent Animals (FCIA) is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is staffed 100% by dedicated volunteers. FCIA was founded in 1982 by Penny Adams, who, for the following 25-plus years, tirelessly committed herself to the rescue and care of companion animals in need.
FCIA takes in small adoptable dogs in need of care that would have otherwise been euthanized. Animals come to us from many sources. Some have been rescued from San Diego County shelters. Others have been abandoned or relinquished to us as the result of a family facing the loss of their home, or due to the illness or death of the primary caregiver. We provide these dogs with medical care when needed, compassionate foster homes, and plenty of love and attention. We work very hard to find devoted forever homes for our animals.

Holly's Garden came about when my dog Hollywood crossed the bridge. I created a special garden for her to rest and Holly's Garden was born. Since then I have also lost my male Buckie and their children Curly and Katrina. All rest in Holly's Garden. Their true, unconditional love taught me what life is about and the importance of giving, forgiving and caring for one another. They were, and continue to be the truest, purest form of love I have ever known. I started this rescue in their honor, hoping to give life and love to their kind as they did me.

Labrador Rescuers was established in 2004 to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home stray, abandoned and unwanted Labrador Retrievers and Lab mixes and make it possible for every dog in our care, regardless of age or health issues, to be adopted into a safe, happy and loving forever home. We proudly work to especially help labs who have come into sad circumstances, and provide those dogs with the medical care needed. We work carefully to get to know our dogs and our applicant families, through fostering dogs and in-home interviews, so that we can facilitate a mutually fulfilling adoption outcome.
