Dr. Fontaine was born in Sandy, Utah, but only lived there a few weeks before his family moved to Dublin, California in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up with a Chocolate Lab named Cocoa, who will always hold a special place in his heart.
He went to undergraduate school at UC Davis where he majored in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, and met his now wife. They moved to Baltimore, where his wife attended Johns Hopkins to get her Master of Science in Public Health while he worked as a veterinary assistant at an emergency veterinary hospital in the area. While there, they attained Maryland State residency, and he got accepted to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating from veterinary school in 2015, they moved to North Carolina where he practiced rural general medicine for three years, before returning to California to be closer to family. He lives in La Mesa with his wife, two kids, two cats, and two dogs. He enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors and hiking with his family.
