My name is Maria Amalia Garcia Benavides. I was born and raised in Peru. As a little girl I had a special love towards animals and nature, and after having my first Dalmatian puppy “Boris”, I knew I wanted to help dogs and animals.
With my mothers support I helped strays and was able to take care of them, and foster them until we found homes for them reassuring my dream of becoming a veterinarian.
I graduated from National University of San Marcos in Lima Peru, a very well known university in my home town, and right after I came to the US since my dad and brother lived here, I wanted to learn new techniques in veterinary medicine and ended up staying and decided to get my veterinarian license here. I came with my then boyfriend and got married, I have two dogs and two cats, all came along our way, Ciro, Camila, Hope and Pelusa Pigrizia.
On my free time I love to dance so I zumba at the gym and go to the beach since I have always been close to the ocean.
I always dreamt on having a shelter and help the ones in need.
I enjoy being a veterinarian, helping pets and their owners, and I hope to become better each day…
